The Worshipful Master with Brethren from the USS Enterprise.Lodge News

The lodge was recently contacted by a mason from the USS Enterprise in order to have a meeting during their visit to Palma. With very short notice the WM together with several members of the lodge arranged to meet some of the masons from the ship.

We all met at a cafe on the Paseo Maritimo and introduced ourselves. After a couple of drinks we walked around to the lodge and showed our guests where we hold our meeting and explained a little about Freemasonry in Spain.

The visitors were interested to see our regalia and compared it with there own.

With more that 150 masons on board the ship we were surprised to discover that they were not allowed to hold regular lodge meeting, something which was outlawed many years ago. That being said many of the Brethren from the ship do get together informally.

Members or Ramon Llull Lodge with visitors from the USS EnterpriseOn behalf of the lodge, we presented each of the masons with a small gift to mark their visit to Ramon Llull Lodge Nº 9 and they reciprocated by giving several items of memorabilia from the ship.

All those that were present felt the bond of friendship that Freemasonry extends... “There are no strangers here; Only friends you haven't yet met.”

Since leaving Palma on their journey back to their home port of Norfolk, Virginia, messages have been received and links made through Facebook.

16 brethren from the Province travelled to Barcelona to attend the AGM of the Grand Lodge. The meeting was attended by more than 300 masons from throughout Spain and around the world. 24 Grand Lodges were represented as well as several side degree.

Following the AGM the brethren enjoyed a magnificent festive board.

The March meeting of Ramon Llull coincided with the WM's birthday and, considering his young age, conduted an excellent 2nd Degree ceremony which was followed by a festive board at the restaurant Sa Caseta in Genova.

We were very pleased to have several members of Pythagoras Lodge with us for the festive board and we are particularly grateful to W. Bro. George Rumsey for entertaining us with some amazing magic and hilarious ventriloquism. His dummy, Bro. Javier, proved his versitily and had the brethren in fits of laughter.

The April meeting will be held at the Punta Negra hotel in Sn Caliu on the 21st and will be an Initiation followed by a festive board at Pacha's restaurant in Palmanova.

On the Saturday following the meeting, 23rd April, we will be holding a joint Ladies' Night with Pythagoras Lodge a the Casino of Mallorca. Please reserve your place with R. W. Bro. Ian Scambler.
